The Distillery

The Dalmore is one of most legendary distillery in the world, known globally for their award winning Scottish whisky. The Dalmore creates each of it's whiskies using a combination of different stills, each varying in size to give the whisky a more complex character.

After distillation, Dalmore ages each expression in American white oak bourbon casks and exclusive aged sherry casks from Gonzalez Byass. The sherry casks give the whisky a deep copper color and the flavour of crushed almonds, cinnamon, ginger and citrus. The bourbon casks complement the whisky with notes of vanilla, spice, honey and tropical fruits. In some cases selected whiskies are finished in exceptional casks to showcase woods from world-renowned bodegas and wineries.

Dalmore's story begins centuries before the thought of a distillery entered anyones mind. It dates back to 1263 when Colin of Kintail saved King Alexander III of Scotland from a charging stag. As a reward, the king granted the right to use the 12-pointed Royal Stag as the family crest.

In 1839 the Dalmore distillery was founded by Alexander Matheson. Andrew and Charles Mackenzie, descendants from Colin of Kintail, then purchased the distillery, bringing the iconic 12-pointed Royal Stag emblem with them. This famed symbol has been brilliantly showcased on every bottle produced since.

Dalmore is situated in the Highlands region of Scotland with a beautiful view overlooking the green woods of Cromarty Firth. The distillery campus is just as impressive as the whisky it produces, drawing visitors from all corners of the world. As the distillery has grown in fame, so has demand for their most exotic malts. Prices of their ultra premium bottles have fetched some of the highest marks in the world, with bottles selling for more than $30,000.

Richard Patterson, the master blender at Dalmore, has only increased the distillery's prominence and worldwide acclaim. He has become one of the foremost celebrities in the whisky industry. His adventurous and experimental style has yielded amazing blends that keep both enthusiasts and connoisseurs coming back for more.
