The latest release in the hugely collectible Macallan Archival Series, the Folio 6 celebrates one of the distilleries most famous adverts and marketing campaigns – The Chairman. The story goes that the chairman of Macallan at the time, Allan Shiach, would occasionally come to the distillery’s admen with an idea or two. Generally, his ideas were ignored, but when it came to this one, the admen could hardly refuse. They came up with an amusing image of Shiach himself dancing a Highland fling over a pen and a brush. At the time, their were murmurings of discontent with the ad, however over the years it has gained an almost legendary status and is now looked on very fondly by everyone at The Macallan, and indeed the Scotch whisky industry as a whole.
The liquid inside brings a range of very elegant, warming notes to the table, from the aromas of oranges, ginger and nutmeg on the nose, to the melted chocolate, sultanas and orange zest on the palate. It’s an impressive whisky that comes in impressive packaging that will make it stand out in even the most impressive collections. A real collectible for all of the the whisky aficionados out there.
