This stunning single cask Macduff 1968 was hand-selected by two icons of the Scotch whisky industry, Dominic Roskrow and Charles MacLean, and as you would expect, it delivers in both taste and appearance.
Distilled at Macduff, a distillery not known for their single malt releases, all the way back in 1968, it was then matured in a bourbon hogshead cask for a whole 49 years before being selected and bottled under the “Aulquerc” brand name. This exquisite bottling is particularly rare and unique as one of few Macduff single malts on the market today. This rarity is compounded by the 49 years of maturation, a length that only the sturdiest malts can stand up to.
Rich aromas tropical fruits, including ripe pineapple, sweet oranges and just a hint of lemon zest grace the nostrils, before a fine combination of sweet and salty makes itself known on the palate through gentle toffee, sweet oak and an assortment of salted nuts. The finish is long, with subtle spices creeping through before sticky candied fruits hold for some time. It’s an exquisite whisky that delivers a smoothness only found in seriously well-aged expressions.
With only 141 bottles released, this is a one-of-a-kind single malt that was hand-selected by true legends of the industry. It’s a rare and highly limited whisky that is the perfect addition to any collector’s treasure trove.
