Here we have a brilliant small batch whisky from Islay’s famous Bowmore distillery for you to get excited about – The Bowmore Tempest 10 Year Old. The distillery have been releasing annual batches of this fantastic whisky for a number of years now and the bottles are always snapped up in record time thanks to the excellent array of tasting notes on offer within.
Matured in first-fill bourbon barrels and bottled at cask strength, this is as pure and honest a Bowmore expression as you will find anywhere. Sweet barley, toasted malt, hints of peach and gentle cinnamon are apparent on the nose, before nectarines, vanilla, candied peels and building peat smoke make themselves known on the palate. The finish is long and sweet with subtle sea salt and peat smoke lingering in the background.
It’s a truly wonderful expression from Islay’s oldest distillery that offers excellent value for money, while also being somewhat collectible. It’s a unique, warming dram that is perfect for warming your belly throughout the winter months ahead.
