Daftmill is a rare single malt whisky in the lower regions of Scotland. It is one of the smallest distilleries in the world, and the local farm supplies barley to a number of distilleries. Unlike many distilleries in Scotland, Daftmill uses their own barley for whisky production. This Summer Batch was distilled in 2010 and matured for just over 10 years before bottling. It’s a sweet, juicy and fruity dram that brings lemon zest, canned peaches and dried apricots on the nose, before the palate arrives with vanilla custard, hazelnut and candied peels. The finish is medium length and spicy with gentle vanilla lingering in the background. Limited to just 6,250 bottles on release, it’s well worth adding to your collection.
