In honor of the British monarchy, the 24-year-old Cognac Cask finish has an extraordinarily rich and opulently sumptuous flavor. The blend is the outcome of combining several outstanding Scotch whiskies, such as those from the well-known distilleries of Strathisla and Longmorn. It is the first time Royal Salute has revealed its first-ever Cognac cask finish blend. This exceptional blend, a first for Royal Salute, has been fully matured in first fill Cognac barrels sourced from the finest French oak. Sandy Hyslop, the master blender, has been carefully tending to these unique casks and waiting for the ideal time to release the desired character into this extraordinary blend.
The 24 Year Old Cognac Cask Finish, with its rich golden copper color and minimum 24-year age, emits aromas of toasted oak and dark cherries. Rich caramelized figs, peaches in syrup, lemon curd, and sweet notes of marzipan come next. The whisky takes on a fruitier quality, possibly as a result of the usage of Cognac casks. When you taste it, your palate is overwhelmed with flavors of thick, creamy caramel, warm cinnamon, and summer berry compote. A faint hint of spice complements a long, rich aftertaste.
This elegant blend is housed in a stunningly designed flagon glazed in a striking red hue which symbolizes success, royalty, and auspiciousness. In order to honor the rich heritage and good fortune of Asian markets, the expression’s packaging design narrates the tale of its journey from its recognizable Strathisla distillery in Scotland to the legendary Tower of London and finally to the Far East, where it is surrounded by an Asian garden pagoda and bridge.
