Await your chance to taste the Glendronach 27 year old Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky. An impressive 54.2% strength was bottled in 2021 after being aged for 27 years in the finest ex-Oloroso Sherry puncheon after being distilled by Glendronach Distillery in 1993.
The Glendronach distillery is situated near Dronach Burn in the Deveron area, which lies on the eastern edge of Speyside. James Allardice pioneered and founded it in 1826. Since its founding, this distillery has produced single malts matured in fine sherry casks using the same distillation techniques. It was shut down in 1996 after multiple ownership changes. Since the distillery malted its own barley until 1996, used coal and peat to dry the barley. So, older Glendronach expressions are frequently more peat-influenced than distillations made after 1996. They were the last Scottish distillery to convert from coal-fired stills to steam-heated stills, having done so until 2005. The proprietors of Benriach acquired this distillery in 2008 and began making a peated single malt in limited batches.
