We’re delighted to bring you the latest instalment in Cask 88’s iconic Scottish Folkore Series – The Nuckelavee. Following in the footsteps of its three predecessors by combining incredible whisky with stunning design and mythical legends of Scotland, it’s a truly outstanding release that’s sure to go down as one of the best of 2020.
Distilled at the Highland Park distillery in 1988, it was then laid to mature in a refill sherry cask, before being finished in ex-Rivesaltes fortified French wine hogshead. The results are a rich, honest and memorably delicious single malt whisky that will keep you coming back for dram after dram, while standing out in your whisky collection at the same time.
The expression tells the tale of Nuckelavee, a creature so foul and evil that eyewitness accounts are mercifully rare. The Nuckelavee lives in the sea throughout the daylight months, however it ventures onto land come winter. It has the body of a horse, with skin flayed off, exposing crawling muscles and yellow veins that pump black blood. It’s a horrifying and fear-inspiring creature and one that, should you visit Scotland, you’d be best steering clear of.
With only 100 bottles produced, it’s a rare and iconic whisky that is a must have for fans of the series.
